ABOUT
The Cedar Girls’ Choir was part of the MOE Choral Excellence Programme,
and was honoured with the Rotary Club Ambassador of the Arts award, reflecting
its standing as one of Singapore’s leading school choirs. With the aim
of developing confident, committed, and values-driven singers, the choir,
under the baton of choral director and Cedar alumna Ms Naomi Chye, the
choir has distinguished itself as a Distinction Award choir at the biennial
Singapore Youth Festival over the years.
The choir has been invited to perform at prominent platforms, including the President’s Star Charity Show, the Asia-Pacific Symposium for Music Education, and the World Conference of the Bloomberg Awards Ceremony. In addition to performing at Cedar Arts Fest, the choir has also been featured in the Esplanade Limelight and Concourse concert series, as well as SG Rhapsodies @ Sentosa & National Gallery.
Spanning classical and popular repertoire alongside local and xinyao songs, the choir embraces cultural diversity while evoking themes of joy, hope, ambition, unity, and the pursuit of a better future. Beyond school-wide performances, members actively contribute to the community through Values in Action initiatives, engaging residents at nursing homes, hospitals, and eldercare organizations to foster goodwill and meaningful partnerships.
